Bathroom Ideas For Small Bathrooms

Small bathrooms can be a headache to renovate. Their inherent lack of space means it becomes very difficult to maneuver fixtures and items. It also means that you are pretty limited when it comes to layout possibilities. This has always proven to be a bit of a headache, but by following a few simple tips it is possible to  get the most out of your small bathroom, read on to see more

·       Think Depth Rather Than Length: When lateral space is at a premium, vertical space is a good resort, e.g. when choosing a bathtub consider getting one that's not very wide but is quite deep. You should also translate this thinking to height, go for taller cabinets and storage spaces as opposed to long ones. This increased height provides a twofold advantage in that it increases storage space while simultaneously giving an illusion of space

·       Color: Bright colors create the illusion of space, therefore use light colors in a small bathroom, use an even lighter color on the ceilings to enhance the illusion even more. This will not necessarily require the purchase of a new paint color as you can simply save some of the left over wall paint and add some white paint to make it lighter. This lighter version can then be used on the ceiling. You can also take this effect even further by ensuing that you have light colored towels and floor mats.

·       Door: Conventional doors take up way too much too space and require a pretty substantial area to allow for the swing. They also may require one to open and close the door in order to maneuver around the bathroom. Consider using sliding or pocket doors instead. These eliminate the hassle of the swing area while still partitioning the bathroom thereby locking in humidity. Ensure that the sliding doors selected slide open and closed easily and without creating excessive acoustic disturbance.

·       Built In Storage: Standing separate shelves can increase the clutter in a room and make it shrink, consider going for in built storage which though more expensive more than makes up for it in aesthetic value. Also think about investing in wall sunk storage spaces that are "dug" into the wall to provide extra storage whilst not compromising the already limited space

·       Mirrors: Mirrors can be an excellent optical illusion especially when placed opposite each other, the reflection creates an appearance of infinite space. Furthermore strategically placed mirrors serve the added purpose of reflecting light into a room, with clever positioning you can force light to behave how you would want it to.

Renovating a small bathroom need not necessarily be a hassle, simple clever tricks can greatly enhance the illusion of space.
