Large Bathroom Design & Renovation Tips

More and more people are starting to look at the bathroom as a sort of haven where they go to relax and unwind after a hard day's work, this emerging trend has led to more and more space being allocated to bathrooms as people build their houses. Large bathrooms also need renovation from time to time. Renovating a large bathroom is pretty much simpler than a small one since you do not have to make very many adjustments and considerations with regards to space.

This does not necessarily mean that it is easy. You should always consult and even hire a professional company like Choice Bathroom to do your bathroom renovation. This will ensure the end result will be high quality and also relatively stress free for you. Here are a few tips to help you in your renovation, read on to find out more.

Fixtures: It being a large bathroom you may feel the need to move fixtures around when renovating, items such as the tub toilet and shower. This is all well and good, but you should however be aware of the inherent cost of doing so. Issues like plumbing and electrical wiring have to be switched around and this will inevitably lead to high costs.

Shower: It is now fashionable to have a large airy shower, sliding doors are constantly being abandoned in favor of swinging door with hinges and since space is not an issue, why not. The aim is to make you feel as though you are stepping into a spa and not merely a shower cubicle.
Light: Let the light in, large bathrooms have to be lighted particularly well since improper lighting will result in dark spots due to the sheer expanse of the bathroom. Consider increasing the windows, overhead windows are best if possible. Play around with well positioned light fixtures and be sure to ensure that shadows cast don't create extremely dark spots.

Steam Bath: If you have the space why not install a steam bath, the medical benefits of heat treatment cannot be questioned and what better way to experience this for yourself than in the comfort of your own home. A few modifications would have to be made to accommodate a steam bath though such as a sloping roof to drain off the vapor, an air tight door to trap vapor and increase its effectiveness etc.

Ventilation: Large bathrooms are prone to certain areas becoming stuffy and damp if not properly ventilated. Overcome this risk again by having as many windows as possible and keeping them open most of the time. You  may also consider artificial ventilation such as air conditioning or a fan to complement the natural ventilation system.

Renovating a large bathroom has its own unique set of considerations, but once done the rewards far outweigh the initial effort.
